GCSO Detectives file charges in Child Abuse Investigation

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on January 13th, 2025, Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Detectives responded to a local medical facility, after being notified of suspected child abuse. Guernsey County Deputies responded to the medical facility to learn that the child, who is less than 4 months old, had sustained injuries that medical professionals believed were a result of abuse.

Guernsey County Sheriff’s Detectives were summoned to the scene and immediately began an investigation. Detectives were able to gather statements and evidence that contradicted statements about how the child sustained the injuries. Detectives ultimately learned that the child sustained the injuries due to non-accidental physical abuse and assault administered by the father, Logan Kocsis, age 23, of Lore City, Ohio. The child was treated for serious physical harm, including multiple bone fractures. Kocsis was arrested and booked into the Guernsey County Jail, where he remains in custody.

On January 16th, 2025, Logan Kocsis was charged with the following:

-Felonious Assault – a felony of the 2nd degree

-2 counts of Endangering Children – both felonies of the 2nd degree

Kocsis is scheduled to appear for an arraignment at the Cambridge Municipal Court on January 17th at 1:00 pm.

Sheriff Paden advised that this investigation is still ongoing and stated that more charges are expected when this case is presented to the Grand Jury. Sheriff’s Office Detectives continue to work with the Guernsey County Prosecutors Office, Guernsey County Children Services, and the Haven of Hope on this case. Sheriff Paden stated that he and the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office would use every resource at his disposal to hold those accountable who cause harm to a child.
