Guernsey County 911 Center Recognized at PSAP Innovation Summit

Communications Sergeant Jeff Hannon represented the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office 911 center at the PSAP Innovation Summit on December 11, 2024, held at AT&T Headquarters in Dallas, Texas. The summit was hosted by Carbyne, a leading 911 service vendor. The summit brought together industry leaders from AT&T, Amazon Web Services, and Carbyne to explore advancements in public safety technology.

The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office went live in March 2023 with Carbyne Apex, a state-of-the-art call-handling solution. This technology enables 911 dispatchers to utilize live video feeds from callers’ cell phones and receive critical location information, significantly enhancing emergency response capabilities.

Discussions at the summit centered on enhancing last-mile connectivity for 911 centers, leveraging artificial intelligence to address staffing and operational challenges, and sharing best practices for integrating video technology in Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs). The event aimed to educate 911 centers nationwide on the transformative role of technology in dispatch operations.

Reflecting on the summit, Sergeant Hannon stated, “It should be a source of pride for the citizens to have the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office 911 center recognized for utilizing the best technology available.” Sheriff Paden echoed this sentiment, adding, “I am proud of what our 911 center has accomplished and excited about the future. Thanks to the 911 levy, we can continue serving the citizens of Guernsey County with cutting-edge technology.”
