Jacob Martin Sentenced to Prison for Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on February 10th, 2025, Jacob Martin of Cambridge, Ohio, was sentenced to 33 ½ to 34 years in the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court by the Honorable Judge Daniel Padden on 30 counts of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor or Impaired Person.

A multi-agency investigation was conducted by The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Ohio State Ohio Highway Patrol during the spring of 2024. The GCSO and HSI conducted an investigation after receiving multiple tips on Martin’s online activity and the use of child sexual abuse material. On April 18th, 2024, a search warrant was executed on the residence of Martin and further evidence of Child sexual abuse material was located.

A Guernsey County Grand Jury subsequently indicted Martin on May 14th, 2024 with 30 counts of Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor or Impaired Person, all felonies of the second degree. Martin ultimately took a plea agreement and an argument for sentencing was agreed on by both the Guernsey County Prosecutors Office and Martin’s defense counsel. Arguments took place on February 10th, 2025 at the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court and the lengthy sentence was imposed at the conclusion of these arguments.

Guernsey County Prosecutor, Lindsay Angler was quoted saying: “Guernsey County law enforcement will relentlessly pursue anyone that harms a child, and our office will work to ensure that those people are held accountable to the extent the law provides. This sentence makes clear that Guernsey County is no place for child predators.”

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden commended all agencies involved in the investigation and prosecution of Martin and reiterated that when law enforcement agencies are capable of working together, they are able to have retribution such as in this case.
