Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on August 13th, 2024. Detectives from the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office charged 35-year-old Eric Moyer, of Buffalo, Ohio, with one count of Rape of a victim under the age of 13, a Felony of the 1st degree.
Charges stem from a report that was filed with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office on August 10th after an incident led to the victim disclosing that she had been sexually assaulted and that the assaults had occurred on multiple occasions.
Detectives were able to conduct an interview with Moyer on August 10th, where he gave a confession to sexually assaulting the victim on multiple occasions. Moyer was subsequently booked into the Guernsey County Jail a short time later.
Detectives continue to investigate this complaint, and further charges are expected upon this case being presented to the Guernsey County Grand Jury. Sheriff Paden praised his Deputies and Detective’s swift response and diligence in assuring that justice could be brought to the victim. Sheriff Paden echoed again “The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office will use every resource to our disposal and work tirelessly to ensure that if you victimize someone in Guernsey County, Justice will be served”.
