SCOTT BUCKIUS SR. INDICTED FOR MULTIPLE DRUG CRIMES

Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on February 9th 2024, Scott A. Buckius Sr., age 37 of Cambridge was indicted by a Guernsey County Grand Jury for the following high-level felony drug charges stemming from an in depth narcotics investigation by Investigators at his Office assigned to the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force:

Aggravated Possession of Drugs (a felony of the 2nd degree)

Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (a felony of the 2nd degree)

Aggravated Possession of Drugs (a felony of the 4th degree)

Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs (a felony of the 3rd degree)

Tampering with Evidence (a felony of the 3rd degree)

Detectives had an in depth narcotics investigation on Buckius and through advanced law enforcement investigative techniques learned that Buckius had been traveling to the Columbus area to obtain bulk narcotics. It was also known that Buckius had an active arrest warrant stemming from a prior felony 3 level indictment out of Guernsey County from Cambridge Police Department for possession of a fentanyl related compound and tampering with evidence.

Buckius was identified by undercover investigators in the late afternoon/early evening hours of 2/1/2024 in a vehicle traveling back to Guernsey County from the Columbus area. A traffic stop of this vehicle was subsequently performed on State Route 83 in Guernsey County which led to the arrest of Mr. Buckius on his outstanding felony warrant out of Guernsey County. Additionally, this traffic stop also led to a discovery and seizure of a large amount of methamphetamine, and a bulk amount of fentanyl, which were clearly being brought back into Guernsey County with intention of being distributed for further sales and use.

Through the culmination of the investigation leading up to this arrest, Buckius was identified and confirmed to be a known high level drug dealer in Guernsey County whom was known to be suppling several local dealers who sold for him in the area.

Sheriff Paden would like to make it known to the public that this arrest and now indictment of Buckius for these high level drug crimes was due to the constant dedication and behind the scene work of his investigators. “Mr. Buckius has time and time again been an issue in Guernsey County for drug related crimes according to his criminal history and now with his current charges upon this recent indictment. My investigators will stop at nothing to identify and stop drug dealers at the source. If you are an individual reading this who is selling drugs in this county, I assure you, your time will come too.”
