On the early morning of 7/28/2023 The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant on the residence in Northeast Cambridge stemming from an in depth narcotics related investigation from the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division/Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force.
During the execution of the warrant (3) individuals were taken into custody, as well as, one child whom was present at the residence who was later handed over safely to care and custody of his custodial mother with assistance from Guernsey County Children’s Services.
During a search of the residence bulk quantities of suspected narcotics to include a felony 1 level weight of suspected fentanyl was seized as well as a felony 2 level weight of suspected methamphetamine were seized. Additionally, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and a large amount of U.S. currency were also seized.
The owner of the home, Mr. Kenneth R. Walter of Cambridge, was one of the individuals taken into custody whom was the primary target of the narcotic related investigation. Mr. Walter has been formally charged with the following:
Trafficking in a Fentanyl-Related Compound- Felony 1
Possession of a Fentanyl-Related Compound-Felony 1
Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs- Felony 2
Aggravated Possession of Drugs- Felony 2
Further charges are anticipated pending the outcome of the investigation. Additionally, a forfeiture investigation is pending on Mr. Walter’s Cambridge home due to the severity of the drug trafficking investigators believe was occurring at the residence.
Sheriff Paden commented on the raid and stated “If you sell these level of drugs in our county and think you are going to get away with it, you’re wrong. I have a home for you in my jail and I will ensure my investigators do everything in their power to aid in prosecuting you to the fullest extent and take everything you have that drug proceeds have ever aided you in acquiring.”
