On Thursday morning, June 27, 2024, at approx. 11:40 a.m., the Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call from a Senecaville resident reporting his 6-month-old infant was unresponsive and not breathing. Paramedics, deputies, detectives, and a Trooper from the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Deputies, a medic from Senecaville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Trooper began providing life-saving measures to the infant at that time.
The child was then turned over to medics from United Ambulance and transported to Ohio Health Southeastern Medical Center. The infant was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Guernsey County Coroner requested that an autopsy be completed at the Licking County Medical Examiner’s Office. Ohio law requires an autopsy for any death of a child under the age of two who is otherwise healthy.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division obtained a search warrant for the home and collected evidence from the residence. The case remains active at this time and is pending further investigation.
