Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on February 10th, 2025, Guernsey County Detectives and Deputies uncovered a loaded firearm, suspected Methamphetamines, and suspected Fentanyl during a traffic stop on Interstate 77. Rebekka D. Reedy, age 30, of Akron, OH, had been operating her vehicle southbound when Detectives and Deputies pulled her over for a moving violation. Reedy took a substantial amount of time to completely pull over and when Law Enforcement approached the vehicle, it was learned that a 14-year-old daughter had been present in the vehicle with her.
Through investigative techniques, it was determined that there had been a likelihood that Reedy was engaged in illegal activities and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted revealing the illegal contraband. Reedy has prior violent felony convictions, making it an additional criminal violation for her to possess a firearm. Reedy was transported to the Guernsey County Jail as a result of the traffic stop and has been charged with the following:
Count One: Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs – Felony of the 2nd degree
Count Two: Aggravated Possession of Drugs – Felony of the 2nd degree
Count Three: Trafficking in Fentanyl-Related Compound – Felony of the 3rd degree
Count Four: Possession of Fentanyl-Related Compound – Felony of the 3rd degree
Count Five: Having Weapons While under Disability – Felony of the 3rd degree
Count Six: Improperly Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle – Felony of the 4th degree
Sheriff Paden states that his office will continue the fight to eradicate illegal narcotics, especially when they involve illegal firearms and in the presence of minors.
