Update On Events At East Guernsey Schools

This is a follow up to the article release of the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team being at the East Guernsey Local School Campus on September 23, 2021.

Today, September 24, 2021, Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden continued to work in collaboration with Superintendent Rosser, they jointly determined that a detailed search of the East Guernsey School District Campus would be conducted, while students were absent.  Both the Sheriff’s Office and School Administration, wanted to continue to make decisions that were the safest for students, staff, and employees.

Sheriff Jeffery D. Paden used resources available through the Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association and brought in three explosive indicating K9s to the School Campus today.  The K9s came from Muskingum County, Washington County, and Ohio University.  The purpose of this was to eliminate any potential or rumor for an explosive device on campus.  After a detailed search of the entire campus, it was determined that the rumor of an explosive device was unfounded.

Moving forward, the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work in collaboration with East Guernsey Local District for the safety of students, staff, and employees.  Finally, the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work with the local FBI Office to track down the origin of the email.
