Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on May 5th, 2025, Cory Roberts, age 44, of Cambridge, Ohio, was indicted in the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court on 2 Felony counts of Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs – both Felonies in the 2nd Degree and Failure to Register – Felony of the 3rd Degree.
This indictment comes after Detectives with the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and the Cambridge Police Department began receiving information about the Roberts being involved in the trafficking of substantial amounts of methamphetamines in Guernsey County.
On April 23rd, 2025, Detectives received information that Roberts had rented a hotel room at a Southgate Parkway Hotel and was trafficking methamphetamines out of this room. Detectives were able to secure a search warrant for this hotel room.
Roberts was taken into custody during the execution of the search warrant and transported to the Guernsey County Jail. During the search of the hotel room, Detectives located a substantial amount of suspected methamphetamine in the room, along with cash, various items of drug paraphernalia, and an airsoft pistol.
Along with these charges, Roberts was also indicted for Failure to Register, as he did not meet his legal obligations as required by Sex Offenders in the State of Ohio. Roberts is currently required to register as a Sex Offender after an original charge of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
Sheriff Paden commended his staff for not only taking a substantial methamphetamine dealer off the streets but also for making Roberts a priority after failing to fulfill his obligations as a Sex Offender. “If it’s not clear at this point that this office will use every resource at its disposal to target these criminals that plague our communities, then they may never understand.”
