Common Pleas Court Awards Property to Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office

Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden announces that on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court awarded the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office a residence/property seizure that originally stemmed from a narcotics investigation by his Investigations Division and Homeland Security Investigations. Brett McLaughlin was sentenced to 20 years in prison in October of 2022 for his involvement in a slew of felony charges including, but not limited to, Weapons under Disability, Permitting Drug Abuse, Possession and Trafficking in Cocaine, and Possession and Trafficking in a Fentanyl-Related Compound. The residence/property seizure specification was added to the sentencing guidelines and it has now been officially awarded to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden praises the relentless pursuit his Investigations Division has in combating the dangerous drugs in this county. Sheriff Paden goes on to state, “Drug dealers take note. You will be arrested and my office is determined to seize every asset you have illegally obtained.”
