Sheriff Jeffrey Paden announced that on December 1st 2023, Jeremy Konkler, 33, of Cumberland, Ohio, was sentenced to 50 years in the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court. Konkler, who was originally charged with 11 counts of Rape and 20 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition was scheduled for trial on November 6th. A negotiated plea was reached prior to the trial date and Konkler plead Guilty to 10 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition, all felonies of the 3rd degree.
Konkler was originally arrested on March 25th 2023 after Guernsey County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to his residence after receiving a call that a female, younger than the age of 13, had just been raped at the residence. Deputies responded and made contact with the victim. Detectives from the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division were summoned to the scene to conduct the investigation. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) was also requested to assist with the investigation.
During the course of the investigation, Investigators were able to gather physical evidence, including DNA, witness and victim statements as well as Konkler’s admission to these acts occurring consistently over the course of the last 4 years.
The appropriate sentencing for Konkler’s guilty plea of 10 counts of Gross Sexual Imposition was argued by the Guernsey County Prosecutors Office and Konkler’s defense team on December 1st in the Common Pleas Court. A maximum sentence of 50 years was then set by the Honorable Judge Daniel G. Padden.
