Sheriff Jeffrey D. Paden said that a Senecaville area man has been charged with Rape after detectives from his Investigations Division began looking into the complaint filed by a 16 year old Quaker City girl in late January. Gary Dennis Berentz, age 54 of Senecaville was charged with Rape, a felony of the first degree and Gross Sexual Imposition, a felony of the fourth degree on Wednesday morning February 7th. He was arraigned for his bond hearing in the Cambridge Municipal Court at 1:00 p.m. the same day and he is currently in the county jail on a $150,000 bond with no 10 % allowed.
Sheriff Paden said that further charges are expected to be presented to a grand jury for consideration stemming from the investigation.
